Our ACCSC-accredited 6-month Marine Systems program will equip you to turn your passion for boating into a rewarding, in-demand career. Learn the theory and technologies of both stand-alone and fully-integrated boat systems as you prepare to install, repair, and troubleshoot everything from diesel and outboard engines to electrical systems.

Students will build working simulation panels that mirror the systems of a power boat and earn valuable American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), National Marine Electronic Association (NMEA), and Yamaha certifications as part of the program.

Marine Systems

Become a Certified Marine & Diesel Technician. This program can be completed in just six months and will prepare you to join the marine industry as a systems technician. You'll work with expert faculty to learn theory and technologies in a variety of boat systems and the inner workings of power and sailboats. Through this program you will also take the following certification exams:

We're located in the heart of Newport, Rhode Island, with 945 linear feet of dock space and 600 linear feet of waterfront for you to enjoy. IYRS has Newport business district's only nonprofit working waterfront.
